At University of Vermont Medical Center, we pride ourselves on providing nutritious food that’s good for the environment and our community. We aim to have the most sustainable health care food service in the country and were one of the first hospitals in the nation to sign the Healthy Food in Health Care Pledge – a commitment to serving local, nutritious food.
Harvest Café
Our main cafeteria, located in the McClure Lobby, serves fresh and organic ingredients, locally raised beef, antibiotic-free chicken and turkey, and many vegetarian choices, all cooked to order. The Harvest Café is open from 5 am–3 am daily.

Room Service
UVM Medical Center is proud to offer room service to patients at our Main Campus in Burlington. Room service allows patients to be in control of their own food choices, within the diet ordered by their physician. Room service can be ordered at any time between 6 am–7:15 pm.
Our room service menus follow the guidelines of the Mediterranean diet, providing patients with fresh, wholesome and healthy food selections.

Catering
Catering services are available upon employee request. UVM Medical Center employees can arrange for catering by visiting the Nutrition Services Intranet Site.

Family Room
On Baird 5 of Golisano Children's Hospital, our comfortable, apartment-like family room is available to inpatient families to use as a quiet space to prepare a favorite meal, take a shower or do laundry.
Catering
Catering services are available upon employee request. Golisano Children's Hospital employees can arrange for catering by visiting the Nutrition Services Intranet Site.
We are committed to sustainable food practices and our Nutrition and Food Services staff works hard to help reduce our hospital's carbon imprint through local food purchasing, composting and food donations to the Vermont Foodbank's Food for Salvage program.
Mountain View Café
Mountain View Café strives to provide fresh, local and healthy food choices prepared to order by our staff, many of whom have trained at the New England Culinary Institute.
Each week we offer a variety of grill specials and hot entrees for lunch and dinner, as well as a diverse breakfast menu.
Hours and Location
The Mountain View Café is located on the basement level of the hospital and is open daily from 7 am–7 pm. The café is closed from 2–4 pm on weekends.
Room Service 4 You
Our registered dietitians and culinary trained staff have planned a menu that is appropriate for your medical needs in accordance with the nutrition prescription your doctor has ordered for you. We encourage you to order when you are ready to eat.
To order, dial 4 YOU (4968) from your bedside phone or 802-371-4968 if calling from outside Central Vermont Medical Center.
If you receive insulin, please order within the following timeframes:
- Breakfast: 7:15–8:15 am
- Lunch: 11:15 am–12:15 pm
- Dinner: 4:30–5:30 pm
This menu should offer the nutrition prescription ordered by your doctor. A menu host will help guide you through your selections when you call or a host can visit you to help you make your meal choices.
After the birth of a child, you may choose one person to dine with you, free of charge, at each meal. Pediatric patients ages 13 and under may have one parent or caregiver dine with them, free of charge.
We are committed to sustainable food practices and pride ourselves on purchasing nearly 30% of our products from local farmers, food producers and processors. We support Zero-Sort recycling to keep recyclables out of the waste stream and promote the usage of recyclable products, such as reusable mugs.
The Garden Café
The Garden Café provides a variety of meal options with an emphasis on healthy, fresh and local food. Options include gourmet coffee, a grill station, sandwich and pizza stations, a chef station, a salad bar and a selection of grab and go items.
Hours and Location
The Garden Café, located off the lobby on the first floor, is open from 6 am–8 pm daily. Hours for specific food stations are as follows:
- Grill station: 6–10 am, 11 am–12:45 pm
- Chef station: 10 am–1:30 pm
- Hot station: 10 am–8:00 pm
- Deli: 10 am–6:30 pm
- Salad bar: 9:30 am–8 pm
Dining Center
The Alice Hyde Dining Center is located on the ground floor of the hospital and is open from 6 am–6:30 pm daily. Menu options change frequently.
Cafeteria
Our cafeteria provides freshly prepared foods, soups made from scratch, sandwich and salad bars, and a variety of desserts and beverages. We offer local and sustainable options, antibiotic-free and organic meats, and rBGH-free milk.
Please note that the cafeteria does not accept credit cards at this time.
Hours and Location
From Monday to Friday, the cafeteria is open during mealtimes:
- Breakfast: 8–10 am
- Lunch: 11 am–1:30 pm
- Dinner: 4:30–6 pm
On Saturday and Sunday, the cafeteria is open for lunch, from 10 am–1 pm.
The McClure Miller Respite House has an open kitchen and welcoming living room where families and friends can easily gather.
