MyChart requires authentication to protect your personal information.
What is a Third-Party Authenticator?
Instead of using MyChart's two-factor authentication, you can opt for time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) from an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or the native iOS authenticator. This method is more secure than email or text-based verification, as the authentication code is generated directly within the app and cannot be intercepted by malicious parties.
To use an authenticator app, you must first enroll through the Security settings page in MyChart. Please note, when prompted to enable two-factor authentication during login, you will not be automatically prompted to set up an authenticator app.
- Before setup, you must install a third-party authenticator app. iOS users can use the native iOS authenticator, while Android users may need to install an app if they haven't already.
- Login to MyChart with your username and password.
- Navigate to ‘Your Menu’ and select Account Settings under Settings, or search for ‘Authenticator.’
- In the Two-Step Verification section, select Verify with authenticator app.
- Enter the password used to log in, then select Continue.
- To set up the authenticator app, scan the QR code with your device.
- Once the device is set up, select Set up two-step verification to proceed.
- Verify your identity by entering the code generated by your authenticator app.
- Upon successful verification, you'll receive confirmation that your authenticator app is enabled. Select Finish.
You can choose to turn off your third-party authenticator by logging into MyChart, navigating to Account Settings, and selecting an alternative two-factor authentication method.
If you attempt to disable your third-party authenticator before selecting a new two-step verification method, you will receive a warning.
