Adult Primary Care (Internal Medicine)

Adult Primary Care at UVM Health

Adult primary care providers at University of Vermont Health provide medical services for people 18 and older. Adult primary care is also known as general internal medicine. This specialized field of primary care focuses on the distinct health care needs of adults.

Our adult primary care providers get to know you and partner with you on every step of your wellness journey. This partnership continues as your medical needs change or become more complex over time. We listen to your concerns and work with you to develop a personalized care plan that meets your unique needs.

Why Choose UVM Health?

We offer:

  • Chronic disease management: We’re experts at managing chronic conditions and helping you feel confident managing them, too. We work closely with our specialists and on-site pharmacists to ensure effective disease management.
  • A team approach to care: If you’re at high risk for health problems or disease complications, our Care Management team partners with you and connects you with resources to achieve better health outcomes. This care helps keep you out of the hospital.
  • A wide range of services: We help you get access specialists and services. We offer mental health support, nutrition counseling and help for substance use disorders and smoking.
  • Teaching and training: As part of a health system anchored by an academic medical center, our physicians are training the next generation of experts. Medical students work alongside our primary care team in many of our clinics.
