Please note that graduates of medical schools outside the United States may be ineligible for residency training in New York State if more than 12 weeks of core clerkship training during the third and fourth years of medical school occurred outside the country where the medical school is located, unless the curriculum has been specifically approved by the New York State Education Department.
Our program utilizes the Medical Board of California's List of Recognized Medical Schools. Applicants who have graduated, or will graduate, from a medical school not included on this list will not be considered for a residency position.
Important Deadlines
- December 1: Application deadline
- December 1: All required application materials must be received, including:
- ERAS application
- Personal statement
- Dean's Letter/MSPE
- Medical school transcript
- Three letters of recommendation
- January 31: USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 or COMLEX Level 1 and Level 2 scores must be available
While our program does not have a minimum USMLE or COMLEX score requirement, applicants with stronger academic performance and fewer examination attempts may be more competitive for interview selection.
Applications are reviewed beginning in September, when ERAS becomes available to residency programs. Candidates selected for an interview will receive an email invitation from our residency team.
Interview Format
All interviews are conducted virtually and are scheduled on select Tuesdays and Thursdays during October, November, and December.
Because interview dates have limited capacity, invited applicants are encouraged to respond promptly to secure their preferred date.
Each candidate will interview with four members of our residency team, including:
- The Program Director and/or Associate Program Director
- Two core faculty members
- One current resident
Interview days begin at 8:20am EST and conclude by approximately 12:10pm EST.
The evening before each interview day, applicants are invited to attend an informal virtual Q&A session with current residents from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. EST. This session provides an opportunity to learn more about our program, resident life, and living in the North Country in a relaxed, conversational setting.
