Curriculum & Rotations

Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital
Curriculum & Rotations

The Champlain Valley Family Medicine Residency curriculum includes a close knit Family Medicine Center and thriving community hospital.

Highlights of the CVPH Family Medicine Residency curriculum include:

  • Close-knit Family Medicine Center and hospital community
  • Rural medicine experience
  • Procedural training
  • Sports medicine
  • Behavioral health
  • Obstetrics
  • Lifestyle Medicine Training

Longitudinal experiences include gynecology clinic and newborn rounds. As a resident, you will round at CVPH on the patients you follow at the Family Medicine Center, allowing for continuity of care and deeper clinical relationships. You will deliver babies, perform procedures, and practice alongside experienced family physicians.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with office-based procedures such as:

  • Skin biopsies
  • Joint injections and aspirations
  • Gynecologic procedures (IUD placement, Nexplanon insertion, endometrial biopsy)

Our sports medicine curriculum includes:

  • Monthly didactics
  • Musculoskeletal and injection workshops
  • Sideline sports coverage
  • Two dedicated block rotations in orthopedics and sports medicine

We offer excellent training in obstetrics, and we’re proud that our Family Medicine physician faculty actively practice and teach OB.

Training is tailored to your career goals, with opportunities for:

  • Career development
  • Elective rotations
  • Additional training in areas of interest

With the addition of the Lifestyle Medicine course, our curriculum further supports a holistic, patient-centered approach to care—preparing you to be a well-rounded, compassionate, and highly skilled family physician.
