Flood Safety and Recovery Guidance
Please be advised that severe flooding has impacted our region and may affect travel to and from our UVM Health Network locations. If you have experienced flooding, please review the following resources provided by national and local agencies.
Flood Safety Tips
Take extra caution when navigating flooded areas and follow these safety tips provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
- Do not touch electrical equipment. It is especially dangerous if you are wet or if you are standing in water.
- Stay away from flood water. Flood water may be contaminated with dangerous substances.
- Stay away from moving water. It can knock you off your feet or disable your vehicle.
- Stay out of the way of emergency workers. Give them space so they can do their job easily.
What to Do If You Need to Evacuate
If you are evacuating, the American Red Cross advises bringing these things with you:
- Prescription and emergency medications
- Foods that meet special dietary requirements
- Extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies and other comfort items
