About Our Location

Cardiac Rehabilitation at University of Vermont Health – Central Vermont Medical Center supports your recovery after a heart attack, heart surgery or other heart condition. We offer individualized services and plans to meet your needs as you safely regain your strength, build confidence and work toward a healthy future.

Our specially designed cardiac rehabilitation area features a variety of state-of-the-art exercise equipment, including five treadmills, two recumbent bikes, one Airdyne bike, two rowing machines and three arm ergometers.

Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program (Phase II) is a six-to-12-week outpatient program. It consists of monitored, progressive aerobic exercise, starting one to two weeks after your hospital discharge. One comprehensive fee is charged for each session, which includes the cost of cardiac monitoring and physician and staff supervision. Most insurance companies cover the cost of this program.

Features of this program include:

  • Exercise sessions held three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 to 11:00 am) in a specifically designed cardiac rehabilitation area.
  • Each participant follows an individualized exercise plan.
  • Exercise is conducted in groups of eight to 10 people for approximately one hour (including exercise on a treadmill and/or stationary bike, rowing machine or arm ergometer, etc.).
  • Education is provided in group sessions held once a week and through individual teaching.
