Treatments and Diagnostics

During your first appointment with a physical therapist, you will discuss your needs and goals. Your therapist will evaluate you using tests that assess your physical function, strength, mobility and endurance.

Your physical therapist will then create a personalized care plan designed to:

  • Decrease pain
  • Improve your mobility, strength and endurance
  • Prevent the progression of physical imbalances or injuries
  • Reduce your risk of injury

Physical Therapy Techniques

Your physical therapy plan typically includes prescribed exercises to improve your function. Often, you attend sessions with a physical therapist to perform these exercises and receive other treatments. You will also need to practice your therapy exercises at home between sessions.

Our therapists also use a range of special modalities and techniques tailored to your unique needs, including:

AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill

The AlterG’s unique unweighting technology allows you to rehab from surgery or train through injury.

  • Helpful for runners who are injured but would like to keep up their mileage for training.
  • Allows you to continue running with injuries like plantar fasciitis or shin splints.
  • Beneficial for post-surgery recovery by allowing walking with a normal gait sooner than otherwise possible. It helps prevent development of bad habits and altered gait resulting from pain and injuries.

Amputee and Prosthetic Training

Our physical therapists work closely with physicians, prosthetists, occupational therapists and other experts to help people who have had a limb amputation. We understand that a limb amputation is a lifechanging event and offer personalized, compassionate care. Ultimately, our goal is to empower you to achieve your highest level of function possible.

Blood Flow Restriction Therapy

We apply brief, intermittent pressure with a tourniquet that restricts blood flow to one of your limbs. This technique allows you to exercise at lower intensities while still creating the growth response your body needs to get stronger.

Concussion Care

After injury, rehabilitation therapy can be a critical step toward healing. We offer comprehensive rehabilitation services to help you achieve your highest quality of life.

Dry Needling

We insert very fine needles through your skin and into deeper tissues to target trigger points. This approach helps enhance your body’s healing abilities and reduces pain.

Manual Physical Therapy

Our therapists may use hands-on techniques, special instruments or taping techniques — such as kinesiotaping and McConnell taping — to manipulate your tissues or joints. These approaches can help decrease pain caused by joint problems, muscle spasms or muscle tension.

Parkinson's Rehabilitation

We offer LSVT BIG™, a specific type of therapy that helps improve motor symptoms in people with Parkinson’s disease to help balance, walking and trunk rotation.

Pilates Reformer

A Pilates reformer is a piece of exercise equipment that allows for a wide range of controlled, low-impact exercises that can improve strength, flexibility, balance and coordination.

Posture Training

Postural imbalances can often lead to pain and dysfunction. With postural training, we work on repositioning your body into proper bone and muscle alignment. We offer exercises to help retrain your body to maintain proper positioning and avoid returning to faulty patterns.

Stroke Rehabilitation

If you have experienced a stroke, our therapists assess your overall strength, mobility and balance. They offer specialized treatments to help improve your movement abilities and restore function.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Rehab

TBI rehabilitation is a comprehensive program designed to help individuals recover from brain injuries. Rehabilitation can help you improve mobility, strength, coordination and help with daily activities to regain independence.

Home Health & Hospice

Home-Based Health Care

We provide care in the comfort of your home to support you in your recovery, help you maintain your independence and improve your quality of life. Services are available in Chittenden and Grand Isle counties.
