Foot, Ankle & Leg Care

Foot, Ankle & Leg Care at UVM Health

Your feet, ankles and lower legs are responsible for getting you where you need to go. They support your weight and allow you to move, walk and exercise without pain. Any injury or condition that damages these structures can limit your ability to participate in your daily activities.

At University of Vermont Health, our team is here to help you get back on their feet. We have advanced skills and training in treatment — from nonsurgical care to complex reconstructive surgeries — for the entire range of foot, ankle and leg problems.

Why Choose UVM Health?

Our collaborative approach combines the expertise of podiatrists, specially trained advanced practice providers and fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeons. We work together to create personalized treatment plans that prioritize conservative treatment first. We only recommend surgery when it’s the most effective option.

As one of the leading foot, ankle and leg programs in the region, we offer:

  • Options for care: Our foot and ankle advance practice providers (APPs) offer expanded appointment times to better fit your schedule. Digital health allows you to attend visits in the comfort of your own home, when appropriate. If you need multispecialty care, we collaborate with specialists throughout UVM Health, including endocrinologists, rheumatologists and neurologists who help us offer holistic treatment.
  • Full-spectrum services: We offer convenient access to on-site X-rays, evaluations, casting and surgical consults. Podiatrists and APPs across the region provide expert care for foot, ankle and leg problems.
  • Research emphasis: As part of a health system anchored by an academic medical center, our physicians are active researchers, many of whom are training the next generation of experts. We are at the forefront of research into foot and ankle care.

My doctor has been excellent and instrumental in my return to good health. He is professional, personable, easy to talk to, efficient, kind and incredibly knowledgeable.
