Cancer Treatment at UVM Cancer Center

A cancer diagnosis may leave you with many questions about your health. The interdisciplinary care team at University of Vermont Cancer Center can help you find answers.

At UVM Cancer Center, you receive care from specialists with expertise in your specific diagnosis. Our team takes a patient-centered approach that includes comprehensive support for you and your family. We will develop a personalized cancer treatment plan that may include multiple therapies, including possible enrollment in clinical trials only available at select cancer centers nationwide.

These providers coordinate with specialists from across UVM Health who have expertise in specific body areas, such as the lungs, breasts or gastrointestinal tract.

  • Broad access: Our network of providers gives you access to cancer services in treatment centers throughout Vermont and northern New York. We coordinate appointments whenever possible, so you can see multiple experts in one day and make fewer visits to your provider's office.

Cancer Treatment Services 

At UVM Cancer Center, you receive a personalized care plan that may include multiple treatment strategies, depending on the type of cancer you have. Throughout your cancer journey, our nurse navigators are by your side to coordinate appointments, answer questions and guide your care.Your care plan may include one or more of the following treatments:

Chemotherapy is a common treatment in the form of a pill, cream, IV or injection to stop or slow cancer cell growth or ease symptoms.

Radiation therapy uses concentrated energy to destroy cancer cells and lower the likelihood of recurrence.

Immunotherapy is a treatment that boosts your immune system’s ability to detect and destroy cancer.

Cellular therapies such as stem cell transplant, CAR-T cell therapy and bispecific antibodies use your own cells to treat cancer.

Targeted therapy, also called precision medicine, uses proteins and biomarkers to destroy cancer cells or slow their growth.

Surgical services include surgeries that relieve pain, heal injuries and treat even the most complex conditions.
