Pediatric ENT at Golisano Children's Hospital
When your child has a condition affecting their ear, nose or throat, you want expert care, delivered by a team that treats your family with compassion and respect. At Golisano Children's Hospital at University of Vermont Health, our pediatric ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialists provide advanced diagnosis and treatment in a family-focused, supportive environment. From earaches and nosebleeds to hearing problems and genetic conditions, our team is here for you and your child.
Why Choose Golisano Children's Hospital?
Our first-class pediatric ENT program brings together specialty-trained physicians and state-of-the-art technology. Through our network of providers and Golisano Children’s Hospital, you have access to comprehensive pediatric ENT services at clinics across Vermont and northern New York. No matter where you see us, we listen to your needs and concerns and create a care plan that helps your child feel better now and into the future.
- Experience: Our board-certified ENT physicians (otolaryngologists–head and neck surgeons) are fellowship-trained in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of pediatric ENT conditions. Many of our physicians also have focused expertise in specific conditions and procedures.
- Multidisciplinary clinics: Our multidisciplinary aerodigestive, cleft and craniofacial, and pediatric sleep medicine clinics bring together teams of specialists in one place at one time. You see all appropriate providers in one visit, so you don’t have to make separate appointments.
- In-office tests: We offer some tests in our office, including audiology testing, ultrasound imaging and in-office biopsies. We also perform endoscopic procedures using a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera to look inside your child’s nose and throat.
- Child Life: Child Life is an important service that helps reduce children’s fear and anxiety. Child Life specialists use age-appropriate education and play to prepare children for medical procedures or to provide distraction and support.
Pediatric Ear, Nose and Throat Services
As part of a health system anchored by an academic medical center, our pediatric ENTs work with providers across UVM Health. Departments we frequently collaborate with include speech language pathology, audiology, neurology, pulmonology, plastic surgery, hematology and oncology, genetics and pediatric sleep medicine. These partnerships ensure your child receives the best care possible.
Services we offer include:
A multidisciplinary team coordinates care for disorders that affect a child’s ability to breathe, eat or swallow. Our ENTs offer a range of surgical and nonsurgical treatments.
With the help of speech-language pathologists, we provide surgical, nonsurgical and supportive care for children born with face or skull differences like cleft lip and palate.
We offer a range of treatments for excessive drooling in children, including speech therapy, medications, Botox® injections and surgery.
We treat both routine and complex ear problems. Procedures range from ear tube placement for chronic ear infections to surgery for ear cysts and tumors.
Our in-office audiologists provide hearing tests during your main visit. They have extensive experience and are the only providers in the region offering sedation for certain hearing tests.
We are the only program in Vermont to offer advanced hearing devices, including cochlear implants and bone conduction solutions (implanted and nonsurgical).
Our ENTs provide surgical treatment for thyroid disorders and congenital head and neck conditions. For complex craniofacial conditions we use medical imaging and computer-generated 3D models that help us plan and guide surgery.
Our ENTs treat nosebleeds and sinus infections and perform endoscopic sinus surgery to remove cysts, unblock nasal passages and repair broken noses.
Our pediatric sleep clinic offers multidisciplinary care for children with snoring and sleep apnea. Our ENTs offer surgical solutions, including Inspire® sleep apnea treatment and tonsil removal.
Our ENTs coordinate with our pediatric anesthesiologists to provide safe anesthesia for children with complex medical conditions.
