A breast lift (mastopexy) is a cosmetic surgery procedure that removes excess skin and tightens the tissue surrounding the breast to raise and firm the breasts. The breast lift procedure does not significantly change the size or volume of the breasts.

Women may consider breast lift surgery due to body changes resulting from:

  • pregnancy
  • breastfeeding
  • weight fluctuations
  • aging or other factors

Breast lift cosmetic surgery procedures are performed using a variety of incision sizes and techniques. Your surgeon will help determine the right approach for you. At the University of Vermont Medical Center, our plastic surgeons have advanced expertise in all types of breast surgery. Patients have access to the latest procedures and techniques from clinicians with years of experience and who as researchers and educators at the University of Vermont, are on top of the most current developments in medicine.

Breast Lift Consultation and Evaluation

The first step in your treatment at the UVM Medical Center is an initial cosmetic surgery consultation and medical evaluation. During this time, we will discuss your goals and concerns and determine if you are a suitable candidate for plastic surgery.
