Helen Porter Neighborhoods
When you move into our community, we match you to the neighborhood best suited to your needs. Our residents live in three neighborhoods:
- Memory Care: A space for people whose primary needs relate to dementia and memory care. Our dedicated memory care program offers activity-based care in a warm, supportive, safe environment.
- Short-Term Care: For those who need short-term rehabilitation services. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, an injury or a hospital stay, we help you get back on your feet. Our goal is to help you return to your prior living space, whether it be an assisted living center or your home.
- Long-Term Care: For people with physical needs requiring 24-hour skilled nursing care. We offer nursing care and assistance with activities of daily living, as well as community events and gatherings tailored to residents’ needs.
Both our memory care and long-term care neighborhoods have designated end-of-life rooms — private rooms with designated space for loved ones to visit and stay overnight if desired. Residents receiving hospice care continue to receive treatment from compassionate staff who know them and understand their needs. Our Palliative Support Services program mission is to provide volunteers to support the dying and their loved ones, give bereavement support to those in need, offer music and other therapeutic practices, create spaces where the dying and their family can be together when home is not an option.
We also collaborate with palliative care teams at our partner hospitals at University of Vermont Health to provide comfort and support.
