About Our Location

If you're experiencing chest pain, signs of a stroke, severe abdominal pain or other serious symptoms, call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately.

At University of Vermont Health – Alice Hyde Medical Center, we provide state-of-the-art, coordinated, timely treatment for all types of emergencies.

For non-emergent issues in which patients will benefit from being seen by a physician or advanced practice provider, Alice Hyde Medical Center Walk-In Clinic has a convenient location in Malone.

Our Facilities Include:

  • State-of-the-art imaging and diagnostic testing technology
  • 11 beds and eight private rooms
  • A community care coordinator and hospital-wide discharge planner are available Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.

Our Services

Our emergency medicine team provides expert care for a full range of emergent conditions, including:

  • Cardiac problems, including chest pain or trouble breathing
  • Complications related to blood disorders, cancers or gastrointestinal disorders
  • Coronary artery disease
  • Mental health crises
  • Stroke or other vascular diseases
  • Traumatic injuries

Visitor Policy

Visitors are allowed in the emergency department. We request that visitors remain in the exam rooms. When exam rooms or diagnostic procedures are being done, visitors should wait in the waiting area.

Things you need to know about our emergency department:

  • Everyone is treated regardless of their ability to pay.
  • All patients must register when they arrive with information such as name, address, family provider and insurance coverage.
  • Treatment will not be delayed because of registration.
  • If you are too ill to provide the needed information, a family member can help.
  • Arriving here with your medications or a list of your medications is very helpful to the staff
  • You or your family member must sign a consent form that allows staff to treat you and bill your insurance company.
  • A triage nurse is responsible for evaluating your condition before you are seen by an emergency medicine provider.
  • You will be seen and treated as soon as possible depending on the seriousness of your situation.
  • You have the right and responsibility to express any concerns you have to the nurse assigned to you.

Insurance Accepted

The Emergency Department at Alice Hyde Medical Center treats all patients without regard to their insurance coverage or ability to pay. If you have insurance, bring your insurance card with you and present it at registration in the emergency department.

Some insurance companies require a referral from the primary care provider to provide full coverage. Coverage may also be reduced or denied if your insurance company determines that your visit did not meet their criteria for an "emergency."

Please refer to your insurance policy so that you fully understand the coverage provisions for use of the emergency department.
