Who Needs a Fertility Consultation?
A fertility consultation is an entry point to fertility treatment. Our services include medications, surgery, IVF, sperm retrieval procedures and fertility preservation. We also provide care if you plan to use an egg donor or sperm donor and can help you create embryos if you plan to use a gestational carrier (surrogate).
If you are not sure whether you should have a fertility evaluation, we encourage you to make an appointment. Our caring providers can help you find out more about your fertility and provide guidance and support.

Normally, I feel overwhelmed by medical information, but after speaking with this team I felt like I could truly wrap my mind around my condition for the first time. I'm very grateful for the information and care that I received.
What to Expect from a Fertility Consultation
The goal of a fertility consultation is to develop a customized plan of care to help you reach your reproductive goals. The visit typically takes about 45 to 60 minutes and includes a review of your medical history. Your provider may perform a physical exam and set up diagnostic testing, such as:
An ultrasound allows us to evaluate your uterus, uterine lining and ovaries. Depending on where you are in your cycle, we may also do other tests at the same time. A saline sonogram is an ultrasound test that assesses your uterine cavity and fallopian tubes. To enhance the images, we place a saline fluid in your uterus using a thin tube inserted through your vagina and cervix. An antral follicle count ultrasound estimates how many eggs you have in your ovaries.
We use this test to look at your fallopian tubes, which carry eggs from your ovaries to your uterus. It involves taking an X-ray after injecting dye through your cervix into your uterus. The dye flows from your uterus to your fallopian tubes and helps us identify any abnormalities.
These tests check how well your ovaries are working. They include ultrasound imaging, blood hormone tests on different days of your menstrual cycle, and anti-Mullerian hormone testing (an indirect measure of how many eggs may remain in the ovaries).
A semen analysis evaluates the quality (sperm count and motility) and quantity (volume) of semen a person produces. After you have completed the necessary tests, we will meet with you again to review your results. Our providers help you fully understand your treatment options so you can make the best choice for you.
