Course: Mastering Late Goals of Care Conversations

Course: Mastering Goals of Care Conversations in Pediatrics

This course focuses on communicating prognosis and discussing goals of care with patients who are in the early stages of their serious illness, often in the outpatient setting. Mastering Goals of Care Conversations in Pediatrics utilizes small group learning and deliberate practice techniques.

Communication Skills Booster (Virtual)

This TalkVermont course provides extra training for TalkVermont graduates who serve as champions of patient-centered communication for serious illness conversations. This course takes place weekly via Zoom for 75 minutes over a 12-week period. Participants will meet with their small group and an expert coach and discuss challenging cases that they are currently seeing in their practice. Participants will be ask to try out new skills and report back to the group. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to work with simulated patients that will be used to monitor progress and provide feedback from the coach.

Attendance: We ask that you attend 90% of sessions.

TalkVermont Advanced Goals of Care Conversations

This TalkVermont course builds on the serious illness communication skills from Early and Late Goals courses. It will focus on skills for dealing with multiple medical decision makers, conflicting goals of care and interprofessional team dynamics and challenges. This course is suitable for those interested in strategies for difficult family meetings.
