Provider Resources at The UVM Medical Center
As a university hospital, The University of Vermont Medical Center is a place where clinical care is enhanced by new research and thinking. Physicians and care providers refer patients to us with confidence.
Our alliance with the University of Vermont enables us to create a setting that combines education, training and technology. It allows our University of Vermont Medical Group physicians to educate others and conduct vital research, all of which fuels better clinical care. Our academic, yet down-to-earth, culture attracts some of the best and brightest minds. This is truly a place where professionals can collaborate and grow.
The UVM Medical Center works with referring providers and hospitals throughout Vermont and northern New York to serve as a single point of communication for providers in the region.

Sharing Information Between Providers
Health care providers (primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, clinical labs, etc.) can share information through a secure network using the information in the Direct Address List of Providers. Though the Direct address looks like an email address, it used to send and receive secure information into an electronic health record (EHR). It cannot be used by patients and their families to send messages to physicians, specialists, etc. Our primary current use is to receive referrals from community providers and to send Transition of Care reports to Primary Care offices.
