Our Community Friendship Volunteer Program helps relieve social isolation and improve the wellbeing of seniors in our community. In partnership with Mercy Care for the Adirondacks, we pair volunteers with older adults who need non-clinical assistance, complementing the age-friendly care we provide at the hospital. Volunteers share their time and companionship with older adults in need.
What volunteers do:
- Provide at-home visits
- Help with crafts or gardening, shopping and errands
- Help with correspondence
- Have phone conversations
- Give rides to appointments/events
- Join in recreational or artistic activities
- Art/music/literature enjoyment
Volunteers receive free training and resources and mileage reimbursement.
