A Storied History
Alice Hyde Medical Center was founded in 1913 following a years-long, county-wide fundraising campaign by residents worried about the lack of a nearby hospital. It was initially named Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital, in memory of the niece of Clarke J. Lawrence, vice-president of Farmers’ National Bank of Malone.
