HealthNet Transport at University of Vermont Health is the region's premier critical care transport, EMS intercept and patient transfer resource. When facilities and services throughout Vermont and northern New York require specialized assistance to stabilize critically ill patients and transport them safely to a higher level of care, our teams are prepared to answer the call.
With helicopter (EC-135 P2+) and ground ambulance capabilities, state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained providers with advanced certifications, we meet the dynamic needs of critically ill patients while in transit.
This system is made possible through extensive training, rigorous quality management and comprehensive clinical oversight through UVM Health.

Patient Transport & Transfer Services
Three HealthNet transport teams at UVM Health service our region, based out of:
- University of Vermont Medical Center (Air and Ground SCT, ALS)
- Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (EMS, ALS/BLS)
- Elizabethtown Community Hospital (ALS/BLS)
Our providers are licensed in New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.
The Care Your Patients Need
Our teams are trained to care for a range of emergencies, providing critical time-sensitive pre-hospital and in-hospital care, including but not limited to:
- Blood products for resuscitation carried by Burlington-based teams
- Advanced pre-hospital surgical skills
- IABP, Impella and ECMO transport capabilities
- Dedicated transport Isolette(s) in collaboration with UVM Health's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team
- Advanced pharmacological intervention
- Advanced airway placement and ventilatory capabilities
- Blood gas and blood chemistry testing in transport
- Bariatric transport capabilities
Care Coordination
Our teams work closely together to transport patients between UVM Health facilities and, when necessary, to hospitals throughout the northeast United States and Canada. Care is coordinated through our Transfer Center, which leverages all available resources across UVM Health to help patients get the care they need, where and when they need it.
Aviation services are provided by Metro Aviation, Inc. located in Shreveport, Louisiana.
