About Me

I first became interested in medicine a few years into my career as a high school teacher and athletics coach, after training as a Wilderness First Responder and later an EMT so I could provide emergency care to injured or ill students.

From there, my fascination with medicine grew quickly. I especially enjoy teaching neonatal and pediatric resuscitation protocols to multidisciplinary medical teams, and I have maintained Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor status throughout my medical career.

After completing residency at University of Vermont Medical Center, I spent four years in an underserved region of Montana as part of my National Health Service Corps service commitment. There, I saw the effects of poverty and limited health care access and learned to manage complex and emergent medical situations with fewer resources.

I love the outdoor recreation available in this region, including hiking, running, cycling and skiing. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and our two adult children, and I play violin in a band.
