Paramedic Education Program

This course has been developed to meet and/or exceed the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards. The course builds upon the foundational knowledge of the Emergency Medical Technician and provides you with additional knowledge and detail necessary for you to practice as a paramedic in today’s workforce.

In addition, the course integrates experiences from outside the traditional 911 (emergency) role of paramedics to introduce you to other areas of paramedic practice, including community-based paramedicine, interfacility transport and specialty/critical care transport.

What to Expect

Our Paramedic Education Program is offering a new style hybrid offering in 2025, with a combination of live, online lectures and in-person labs to re-enforce the lectures. The program uses an online learning management system to help facilitate your learning experience. You will participate in the following ways:

  • Didactic lecture
  • Small group exercises
  • Psychomotor skills; task training and simulation
  • Clinical experiences (required 1 day a week minimum once clinicals begin)
  • Other assignments and projects

A large portion of the course requires you to have basic computer proficiency, as well as reliable internet access. At a minimum, you should have basic knowledge of personal computers, word processing, internet browsing and email.

If you would like to see our course in action before making your decision, contact us and we can arrange a class visitation.

Advanced placement for other allied health professions may be available based on an individual review of their experience, certification or license.

Paramedic Refresher Course

Are you a paramedic looking to recertify? We are working collaboratively with other education programs to offer a combination of a traditional refresher and core content.

Our Paramedic Refresher Program is designed to meet New York State and NREMT's recertification requirements. The course combines online sessions with in-person lab and simulation.

Students are required to attend sessions based upon their performance in a challenge exam. The program will follow all policies and procedures as defined by New York State Department of Health, Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems and Elizabethtown Community Hospital. The available sessions include:

  • Core Content Courses
  • Critical Care Original (pending)
  • ACLS / PALS / BLS Classes
  • Trauma & NAEMT Courses
