Malone/Plattsburgh - Michelle LeBeau, RN, MHRM has been named President of Alice Hyde Medical Center (AHMC) and President and Chief Operating Officer of Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH), both affiliates of the University of Vermont Health Network. The announcement was made jointly by John Brumsted, MD, President and CEO of the UVM Health Network along with Brian Monette and Robert Smith, Chairs of the AHMC and CVPH Boards of Trustees respectively.

LeBeau will succeed Stephens Mundy, who for 16 years served with distinction as a health care leader in the North Country.  LeBeau has been the Chief Operating Officer at CVPH since 2015 and prior to that was the Vice President of Human Resources.

“Michelle has proven to be a dynamic leader who is committed to delivering the highest quality care for the patients and families we serve,” Dr. Brumsted said. “I look forward to working with her as she continues the important work of building on the strengths of each institution and advances our work as an integrated health system.”

LeBeau has been a member of the CVPH executive team for seven years and Mundy noted that during that time, she has championed a number of significant initiatives including building an organizational culture that celebrates accountability, teamwork and professional growth.

“I’ve had the great pleasure to work with Michelle for several years and feel confident that along with the wonderful teams in Malone and Plattsburgh, she’ll continue our efforts to provide the very best health care for this region,” Mundy said.

LeBeau was instrumental in the development of a blended executive leadership team that now serves both AHMC and CVPH.

“When Alice Hyde affiliated with the Network, we began a journey of cooperation and collaboration that continues to improve how we deliver health care to the North Country and makes us a stronger medical center,” Monette said. “This is the next step in that journey. Michelle has exceptional leadership experience. Our Board of Directors looks forward to working with her as we navigate this constantly evolving health care landscape while striving to provide outstanding care and service to our patients and communities.

Smith, too, highlighted her experience. “I am excited that the CVPH Board of Directors has selected LeBeau. Her years of experience as a health care professional, from nursing to administration, are well respected within and outside of the walls of this hospital. We are fortunate to have such a leader especially with the Human Resources experience she brings.”

LeBeau first joined CVPH as a critical care nurse and she and her family have a long history with health care in the North Country. Her late grandfather, A.B. Degrandpre, MD, was a well-known and respected general surgeon in the community, practicing for 56 years at the Plattsburgh hospital.

Early in her career, she served as a Home Health Administrator for Home Medical of America and at CVPH, she held several positions in Human Resources before becoming the executive leader of that division in 2012. She earned her nursing degree from Clinton Community College, a bachelor’s of science in business administration and a master’s degree in Human Resources from Walden University.

“As a North Country native and a leader within our Network, I have had the pleasure of watching first-hand the rapid changes occurring in the healthcare industry and right here in our region,” LeBeau said. “Ours is an ever-changing environment whose success lies in the ability of many organizations to come together for the betterment of patient care. When we are all focused on the one thing we do every day – care for patients – we find our purpose and reignite our passion. I look forward to all that AHMC and CVPH, working together with our colleagues across the Network, can accomplish.”

LeBeau and Mundy will be working closely to assure a smooth transition. Mundy announced his retirement in late February and was lauded for his tremendous contributions to both organizations and the communities served. The mother of five children, LeBeau resides in Morrisonville.
