Porter Auxiliary

Porter Medical Center
Porter Auxiliary

The Porter Medical Center Auxiliary has been supporting our hospital since 1934. It is made up of more than 400 members of the community, who support the mission of Porter Medical Center through financial contributions and through the provision of services for our patients, their families and our staff. The Auxiliary has contributed more than $2.5 million to Porter Medical Center, a major boost to the vibrancy and stability of our hospital and our community.

The Auxiliary is always looking for new members. A $25 donation purchases a year-long membership in support of our local medical center and rehabilitation center.

How We Help

In the last three years, the Porter Auxiliary:

  • Gave $100,000 to the Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing improvement project, which will give residents and patients updated and more comfortable spaces, indoors and out.
  • Donated nearly $60,000 for two clinical training manikins (adult and pediatric) to help medical staff learn and maintain skills.
  • Invested $40,000 to boost the pipeline of trained nursing candidates for Porter Medical Center and the region through scholarships and ongoing education.
  • Funded a COVID-19 testing facility to provide cover and warmth to staff and patients during testing, keeping potentially infected individuals out of our primary care practices.
  • Gave $50,000 to Porter Medical Center to help the hospital and Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing meet the unanticipated expenses of COVID-19.

In the last six years, the Auxiliary has also given:

  • $150,000 for the renovation project at Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing that modernized & expanded nursing care and rehabilitation.
  • $75,000 for the building of Porter ExpressCare, Porter Medical Center's clinic that provides quick, less expensive health care options for patients who might otherwise go to the emergency room.
  • $137,000 to replace the hospital’s patient monitoring system.

Why Should I Join?

  • The opportunity to support our patients, their families and staff while meeting incredible new people.
  • Opportunity to apply your skills and expertise to something you’ll feel good about.
