Multidisciplinary Conference/Tumor Boards:
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine supports several organ-specialty specific Multidisciplinary Conferences (MDCs), also known as Tumor Boards. Residents are assigned to present at approximately 6 per year, which rotates through the organ systems. This experience helps resident learn what factors in a pathology case truly drive clinical management.
Resident Education Curriculum:
Mandatory resident didactics (AP and CP) occur at noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, following a 2-year repeating schedule. Mondays are AP-focused didactics, Tuesdays are CP-focused didactics, Thursdays and Fridays are mix of AP and CP topics, including gross conference, frozen section unknowns, interesting case conference, and CP case conference. The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Grand Rounds occurs Wednesdays from 1-2pm. Wednesdays may additionally include a teaching session for visiting Grand Rounds speakers or an informal AP slides session.
