We accept applications for our fellowship position through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), a web-based system, utilizing the services of the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
The two-year Rheumatology training program is designed to train physicians for careers in academic and clinical rheumatology. The Rheumatology training program has eight faculty members, two fellows (a first year and a second year fellow,) one nurse practitioner, and two pharmacist clinicians. There is a pediatric rheumatologist in the UVM Department of Pediatrics. In addition to outpatient and inpatient rotations, other clinical rotations include pediatric rheumatology, metabolic bone disease, and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
The Medical Center Campus is the main teaching hospital of UVM Medical Center. It is a tertiary and primary care facility with 562 beds, 23 fellowship programs, and 800 physicians. The Department of Medicine is the largest department with 15 specialty divisions. The Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology outpatient clinic is located in the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) at UVM Medical Center. It consists of 10 exam rooms, 2 consult rooms, a nurses' station and a musculoskeletal ultrasound machine. The Osteoporosis Center and DXA machine is located in the Endocrinology outpatient clinic.
The Rheumatology outpatient service operates from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, averaging 70 patients per day and approximately 16,000 patient visits per year.
