These 3 essential components make University of Vermont Medical Center the ideal emergency medicine program:

Prominent Academic Medical Center

The UVM Medical Center provides a top-notch academic “home” for our training program, providing you with outstanding teaching and access to incredible research opportunities. This tertiary referral Level 1 Trauma center serves Vermont and northeastern New York, and, as the front door, our ED provides exposure to very high acuity and complexity.

Training Across the Entire Resource Spectrum

Here at UVM, through our wilderness medicine and global health opportunities, you will develop the skills and confidence to provide care in austere, resource-limited environments. You will become comfortable with point-of-care ultrasound, regional anesthesia, and many other bedside diagnostic and treatment modalities. Our rural and community EM experiences will teach you to practice independent of consultants, and make rapid decisions, including when transfer is indicated. These experiences will truly prepare you to work in any setting.

Amazing Location

We feel there is no better place to live and work than Burlington, Vermont. If you love the outdoors, whether it's snow-covered mountain peaks, beautiful Lake Champlain, technical singletrack, or a competitive race scene, this is the place for you. The Burlington area provides a unique “small town” feel, while simultaneously offering incredible food, music, and a culture of wellness. Our faculty and really everyone you will work with is passionate about creating balance, having fun outlets, and living healthy lives.

We will be accepting applications to join our program in September 2019 through ERAS. Our interview season runs from October through January on a rolling invitation basis, and we will match our second class of 6 residents in March of 2020. Being a member of the second class of a new residency will provide you with a unique opportunity to shape and mold a new program. I hope that you will consider joining us in creating this legacy!
