Our Vision — Integrated Interventional Radiology (IR) Residency
“At the University of Vermont Medical Center, our vision is to create a residency where every interventional radiology trainee is known, supported, and inspired. We believe that exceptional physicians grow through close mentorship, hands-on learning, and a culture of collaboration that values both excellence and kindness. Our goal is to graduate not only skilled interventional radiologists, but also compassionate clinicians and future leaders in our field.” — UVM IR
Program Leadership
Bill Majdalany, MD, FSIR
Program Director, Integrated IR Residency
Dr. Majdalany completed Diagnostic Radiology residency and Interventional Radiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He then joined The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for his first faculty role before being recruited to the University of Michigan, where he served five years as IR Fellowship Director. He later moved to Emory University as IR Residency Director and Site Director at Emory University Hospital. In 2022 he joined the University of Vermont, where he is Chief of Interventional Radiology and Vice Chair of Research.
Clinical interests include complex lymphatic, systemic venous, and portal venous disorders, as well as hepatobiliary and oncologic interventions. Outside of work, he enjoys exploring local farms and restaurants, discovering new places, year-round outdoor activities, and time with family.
Alan Massouh, MD
Associate Program Director, Integrated IR Residency
Dr. Massouh sought a place to practice high-quality interventional radiology, teach, and maintain a rich life outside of work. He found that balance at UVM: a close-knit community with mountain culture reminiscent of his Montana roots and a top-tier academic medical center. UVM IR is a collaborative, growing program that showcases the full scope of the specialty within a friendly academic environment. He’s thrilled to help lead the IR residency program.
Kenzi Nelson, BS
Program Administrator, Integrated IR Residency
With over 10 years of experience in Graduate Medical Education, Kenzi brings deep expertise, organizational skill, and a strong commitment to supporting residents and faculty. A lifelong Vermonter who grew up in the Northeast Kingdom, she and her family love the area, its gorgeous views, and everything Vermont has to offer.
In the fall, you’ll often find her at a local apple orchard replenishing her apple cider donut supply. At home, she embraces her most important role as a full-time “pancreas” for her oldest daughter, who has type 1 diabetes, balancing family life with her dedication to the residency program. Kenzi looks forward to supporting the next generation of physicians as they pursue their goals.
