Recognize and Honor Our Caregivers and Staff
Has a University of Vermont Health nurse or support staff member had a positive impact on your experience as a patient? If so, please take a moment and thank them for their hard work by nominating them for an award!
DAISY Award
We honor our nurses and the extraordinary care they provide with the DAISY Award, which celebrates the compassion and skills nurses bring to their work every day.
The national nonprofit DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired the DAISY Award, a unique way to thank nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of patients and patient families.
BEE Award
The BEE (Be Exceptional Every Day) Award was established in 2019 as a way to recognize the members of our support staff who go above and beyond. This can be any hospital employee who works with physicians and registered nurses to improve the physical, emotional and spiritual health of patients and their families.

My husband was anxious and wanted to come home. Patty stayed with him, decreasing his anxiety until I got there. Her staying with him kept him calm. My family is forever thankful for her, that she made the last day of his life calm and peaceful.
