About Me

I bring my full energy and commitment to my work every day, with a deep focus on providing the best possible care for my patients. My approach is centered on the individual— listening closely, staying present, and working purposefully to support their health and well-being.

Giving back to this community and to the institution that helped shape my life is incredibly meaningful to me. I was born at what was then the Medical Center of Vermont and spent my first two weeks in the NICU with a serious neonatal illness. Thanks to the care I received — including multiple full blood transfusions from generous donors — I was given a second chance at life.

That experience instilled in me a profound respect for the power of medicine, research, and community. I’m especially grateful to the late Dr. Jerold F. Lucey, whose pioneering work helped make my recovery possible. His legacy continues to inspire my dedication to this field.

Today, I’m proud to be part of the same academic medical center that once cared for me, and I strive to pay that care forward—through my work, my relationships with patients, and my commitment to the greater Burlington community.

Giving back to this community and to the institution that helped shape my life is incredibly meaningful to me.

  • Richard Callahan is an outstanding healthcare provider, and I am continuously impressed by the depth of his knowledge in dermatology. I am extremely satisfied with the care he demonstrates and the way he communicates with me. I have noticed, as per my earlier comment, that he seems to be quite time-stressed, leading me to speculate that his patient load must be quite large.
