I talk with every one of my patients about how each cancer journey is unique. I'm committed to collaborating with my patients to determine the best care for them.
The most up-to-date treatments matter, but we must also consider the patient's values and goals when we talk about what treatment will look like. This shared decision-making is how we (providers, nurses and other allied health professionals) become part of a patient's team rather than dictating what patients must do.
