Margaret Mahoney, PA was excellent in explaining possible causes of the knee pain which caused me to seek treatment in the Porter Hospital Emergency Dept. She reviewed with me the x-rays taken of both knees and explained what they showed and how the arthritic changes affected the meniscus of both knees. Margaret did a very thorough examination, telling me what she was doing, and what she was finding. After talking with me about my options, we decided to go with a steroid injection into the knee. She had me make a follow up appointment in 3 months. If the same pain, swelling, redness occurred before my follow up appointment, Meg said to come in immediately to have fluid drained and analyzed for possible gout or Lyme Disease.
