About Me

Throughout my nursing career, the authentic connections I build with patients have been my greatest motivator. In diabetes care, I focus on helping people manage type 2 diabetes through lifestyle modifications, including low-carb nutrition. While medications are important, I believe the most meaningful impact comes from addressing the root causes and supporting patients through the challenge of sustaining long-term change.

Before transitioning to clinical nursing, I worked in health policy in Washington, DC. While that work was valuable, it made me realize I wanted to impact individual lives more directly through hands-on care.

An early experience with a veteran patient, who shared that managing multiple chronic conditions felt more intimidating than combat, reshaped how I approach care. It reinforced the importance of prioritizing each person’s daily lived experience alongside their clinical plan, and this perspective continues to guide my practice.

Outside of work, I enjoy running, hiking and coaching my kids’ sports. I also love to read and write fiction, when I have the time.

The authentic connections I build with patients have been my greatest motivator.
