UVM Health Network Outlines Next Steps in CEO Search
Committee to Lead the National Search Has Been Established, Job Description Released
BURLINGTON, VT – The University of Vermont Health Network shared details Monday regarding the national search process to select a new President and Chief Executive Officer to replace John R. Brumsted, MD, who retires in September 2022.
“There is a long list of reasons to be grateful for Dr. Brumsted’s leadership. His vision for a rural health care system built on a foundation of improving the health of populations is worthy of high praise. We are enriched by his leadership,” said Allie Stickney, UVM Health Network Board Chair and Chair of the CEO search committee. “Now, we have an exciting challenge before us – to identify the next leader of the UVM Health Network, someone who will continue its evolution into a truly integrated health system that serves our communities.”
A range of people from across the UVM Health Network has provided input that contributed to the development of a comprehensive job description to help identify and attract the best possible candidates. A 12-member search committee will work with the national executive recruiting firm, Spencer Stuart, to begin interviews this spring and narrow down finalists in the following months, with the goal of naming a new President and CEO prior to Dr. Brumsted’s retirement.
The search committee was assembled with representation as specified by the Health Network bylaws. Members of the search committee include:
- Noma Anderson, PhD, Dean of the UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences
- Richard Page, MD, Dean of the UVM Larner College of Medicine
- Patricia Prelock, PhD, UVM Provost and Senior Vice President
- Anne Doremus, UVM Medical Center Board member
- Virginia Hood, MBBS, MPH, UVM Medical Center Board member and UVM Professor Emerita
- Tom Little, Chair, UVM Medical Center Board
- Tom Golonka, UVM Health Network Board member and immediate past Chair of the UVM Health Network - Central Vermont Medical Center Board
- John Rugge, MD, UVM Health Network Board Member; Executive Chair of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network
- Kerin Stackpole, UVM Health Network Board Vice Chair
- Allie Stickney, UVM Health Network Board Chair
- Betsy Vicencio, UVM Health Network Board member and UVM Health Network - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Board Chair
- Kara Walker, MD, UVM Health Network Board member; Chief Population Health Officer, Nemours Children’s Health System
As the candidate selection process evolves, the search committee will seek opportunities to gather input on finalist candidates.
