Research is a central part of fellowship training at UVM. Founded in 1791, the University of Vermont is the state’s flagship public research university and an R1 Carnegie-classified institution, recognizing its status among the nation’s top universities for very high research activity and doctoral training. Through the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine - one of the oldest medical schools in the United States - and its nursing, health sciences, and graduate programs, UVM trains more than 2,000 future clinicians, scientists, and health professionals each year. Within that environment, REI fellows benefit not only from mentorship within the division, but also from collaboration with a broad network of investigators whose work intersects with reproductive science in important ways. Fellows may find mentorship and project opportunities with faculty studying ovarian aging and reproductive lifespan, pregnancy and reproductive immunology, implantation and placentation, environmental and inflammatory drivers of reproductive outcomes, myometrial biology and preterm labor, menopause and digital health, and clinically focused outcomes research.
