A special note about living in Vermont and training at UVM:
Vermont is such a beautiful place to be year-round and I was really looking to have a slower paced life outside of the hospital. I enjoyed my training at UVM for residency so much so that I stayed an extra year as chief resident. It is amazing how much fun you can have at work when you are seeing diverse pathologies and enjoy the people you work with.

I first learned how to ride a bike as an adult (in Vermont!) Outside of work I like going on the Burlington Bike Path, kayaking, and in general spending time on Lake Champlain. I hope to learn to ski by the time I am done with fellowship.

I came to Vermont for the beautiful views and easy access to nature, but decided to stay for how supportive UVMMC has been. From day one as a resident, to my time
as chief resident, and now starting cardiology fellowship I have always felt well supported and like everyone is committed to helping me be the best that I can be.
UVMMC is definitely my second family.

A special note about living in Vermont and training at UVM: I was struck by how palpable the warm camaraderie of this program was on interview day, despite it being entirely virtual my year. One month into fellowship and I can say that has certainly borne out. UVM Cardiology stuck out on the trail as a well-balanced program with both robust clinical training and strong academic roots. This is my first time living in Vermont and I’m excited to soak in all the natural beauty, food, and culture.

- Cooking: Relaxing hobby at the end of the day. I enjoy making and eating food from cultures around the world as a window to different cultures and a surrogate for travel.
- Hiking/Traveling: I have hiked and camped in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, and in Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Italy and elsewhere.

A special note about living in Vermont and training at UVM: Everyone at UVM, from the cafeteria staff to the attendings, is super friendly and seems genuinely happy to be here. The program provides excellent, well-balanced training with plenty of space to explore specific interests and career options. Burlington also seems like an amazing place to raise my young family with great access to the outdoors!
Career Interests or Plans: Undecided! I think ACHD would be a good way to honor my pediatrics training, but really like everything so far, so maybe general cardiology.

- Raised in New Hampshire and spent the past seven years in Maine—I’m excited to see if VT can claim the title of my favorite northern New England state!
- Hobbies include trail running, mountain biking, skiing (downhill, skate, Nordic BC, and skijoring), basketball, and Dungeons & Dragons.
- My wife, Anne, and I have two young sons, two Siberian huskies, and two cats.

You can learn about cardiac rehab from the likes of Dr. Ades, bike across Burlington, and have dinner while looking out at Lake Champlain. In that way, UVM offers a great work-life balance.

A special note about living in Vermont and training at UVM: I had such invaluable experiences here as a I resident that I knew I wanted to continue my training here as a cardiology fellow. The hospital is unique in that it acts both as the community hospital for Burlington proper, but also the primary academic center for the state of Vermont and most of northern New York. Here, you will see a wide variety of cardiac pathology and receive exceptional, individualized training and mentorship from the Cardiology faculty. I also cannot say enough good things about the people here. They are all kind, supportive, and have made this place feel like a second home for me!
Career Interests or Plans: Still trying to figure it out, but early interests include Advanced Heart Failure and Electrophysiology. I also have an interest in medical education and curriculum development.Fun

- Born and raised on Long Island, New York
- My wife, Christine, and I have a seven-year-old Beagle mix named Ernie who loves to come with us on hikes and chase squirrels
- Outside the hospital, I enjoy hiking, fishing, playing on the UVM resident-fellow soccer team, and exploring Vermont’s craft breweries. Christine and I also took up snowboarding last winter!

A special note about living in Vermont and training at UVM: What attracted me to UVM is that it offers excellent clinical training with research opportunities that span the clinical realm as well as the basic science realm, including innovative bioengineering research. Despite being new to Vermont, I have already experienced a great variety of outdoors activities and more is available in all seasons. I cannot wait to go skiing during the winter months.

- Amateur tennis player and a tennis fanatic. One of my goals is to attend all four Grand Slams and most importantly to take my dad to Wimbledon.
- Harry Potter aficionado, though I have yet to visit the Harry Potter parks in Orlando and London.
- I love all Asian cuisine, from the Middle East to the Far East. I could easily live off of Sushi if it were sustainable to life.
