Stop the Bleed
Stop the Bleed at UVM Health
Bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death after an injury. In an emergency, every second counts. Waiting for first responders to arrive may not be an option.
You have the ability to save a life. With training, anyone can act as an immediate responder and control life-threatening bleeding after an injury.
Stop the Bleed: Bleeding Control Training
Stop the Bleed is a national campaign offering courses in communities across the United States to train people on how to quickly and effectively control bleeding in an emergency situation.
You do not need medical experience or training to take a Stop the Bleed class. The one-hour training will help you recognize life-threatening bleeding and teach you the techniques needed to take action and save a life.
Host a Stop the Bleed Course
University of Vermont Health Stop the Bleed program coordinates with trainers across the region. If you are interested in hosting a Stop the Bleed training in your community, fill out our training request form or email bleedingcontrol@uvmhealth.org.
Organizations that have hosted Stop the Bleed classes include:
- Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops
- Businesses and corporate offices
- Manufacturing and processing plants
- Motorcycle dealerships
- Schools
- Senior centers
- Ski teams
