About Me
I became a pharmacist because I love chemistry and care deeply about helping people live healthier lives. I've developed a particular interest in diabetes prevention and management, as well as the holistic management of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and heart failure.
One moment that had a lasting impact on me occurred when I was a student pharmacist. After a visit to discuss diabetes, a patient said to me, “Thank you — I think you saved my life.” And he was probably right, but it wasn’t because of a lifesaving procedure. It was listening and talking. It was because I heard his experience, collaborated with him to create a plan that was going to work for him and shared knowledge in a way he could use it. That is what "lifesaving" often means when it comes to chronic disease, and that is a powerful lesson to take forward into a career.
My research interests include improving management of high blood pressure through collaborative care and strategies for prevention of Type 2 diabetes.
Outside of work, reading always helps me step out of my day-to-day and step into the world at large.
