About Me
I am deeply committed to advocating for individuals at their most vulnerable as they navigate and recover from complex medical conditions. I am especially drawn to caring for patients who are medically fragile and managing a complex constellation of needs.
For decades, I have been inspired to work with individuals recovering from brain injury, stroke and head and neck cancer, including those who require a surgical airway such as a tracheostomy or laryngectomy. I have been fortunate to help shape a collaborative, multidisciplinary model of care that supports these individuals beyond the hospital setting.
One experience that reflects the heart of my work involved a young man recovering from multiple traumatic injuries and emerging from a minimally conscious state. His family remained at his bedside around the clock, closely observing each small change and holding hope for recovery. Being present to educate and guide them through this phase helped restore a measure of understanding and control amid uncertainty. When he progressed to the point of manipulating his tracheostomy hardware, I was there to facilitate the moment his family heard his voice and saw him eat and drink for the first time since the crash. Experiences like this — made possible through collaboration with skilled colleagues — are tangible, powerful and deeply meaningful to me.
Outside of work, my husband and I share our lives with a four‑pack of rescued dogs, who rescued us in return. We live in the mountains and enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring the woods and digging in the dirt.
I am deeply committed to advocating for individuals at their most vulnerable as they navigate and recover from complex medical conditions.
