About Me
I grew up in a rural agricultural community where neighbors looked out for one another. That upbringing instilled in me the values of persistence and compassion. With both of my parents working in the sciences, I was also surrounded by curiosity and inquiry from an early age.
During my medical training, this curiosity became focused on patients’ stories, especially those from rural communities like my own — stories of persistence and compassion. I leaned into hearing and sharing them as a way to explore the complexity of personhood.
Palliative medicine is a natural blend of these passions: connection, science and the privilege of being invited into someone’s story, especially in the moments that matter most.
I specialize in palliative medicine and hospice care and am committed to helping patients live as well as possible in the face of serious illness. My goal is to meet patients where they are, listen deeply, advocate for their needs and help remove barriers to care. My mission is to restore personhood and honor patient and family stories within medicine.
Outside of work, I enjoy backpacking, hiking, skiing, needlepoint, eating locally sourced foods and annoying my cat.
