About Me
My path to medicine began with witnessing family members navigate serious, life-threatening illnesses. Experiencing their journeys firsthand fueled my passion for medicine to better understand rare disease and taught me the profound impact healthcare workers play in helping patients and families during some of their most difficult moments, ultimately leading me to medicine and neuro-oncology.
I consider it a privilege to care for patients facing difficult, life-altering diagnoses. I believe in listening carefully, explaining complex information in an understandable way, and partnering with patients to develop treatment plans that reflect their values and goals. I work closely with a multidisciplinary team of neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, and hematologists/oncologists to help patients and families navigate challenging diagnoses, make informed decisions, and develop plans that treat the whole person.
After my upbringing in rural Virginia, caring for patients from rural communities is close to my heart. Taking care of patients with extremely rare diseases living in remote areas during fellowship strengthened my commitment to ensuring rural communities have access to high quality, specialized oncologic and neurologic care. I am passionate about supporting access to equitable healthcare through advocacy and educational efforts.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy music, fiction, foreign films, travel and exploring the outdoors with my husband and dog.
Today, I consider it a privilege to care for patients facing life-altering diagnoses. I believe in listening carefully, explaining complex information in an understandable way and partnering with patients to develop plans that reflect their goals and values.
