Plattsburgh, NY – From managing stress and improving nutrition to increasing physical activity, addressing "chemo brain" and building resilience, an eight-week program offered by the FitzPatrick Cancer Center (FCC), part of the University of Vermont Health Network - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH), provides cancer survivors with the tools, resources and support needed to embrace wellness after treatment. The eight-week series starts Monday, Oct. 5, and continues each Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at CVPH.

“Moving Toward Wellness offers people looking to rebuild their lives after treatment with great information and resources,” explained Alex Fleming, LMSW, FCC social worker.

Participants will gain practical strategies for building healthy habits, managing the short- and long-term effects of treatment, and coping with the emotional challenges that can accompany a cancer diagnosis and life after treatment ends. Topics include exercise, nutrition, stress management, fatigue, "chemo brain," scan-related anxiety, fear of recurrence and techniques for building resilience and overall well-being.
