Karen Mills Joins Girls Night Out

Karen Mills Joins Girls Night Out

New headliner featured in CVPH Foundation Oct. 13 event

Karen Millis Comedian

Plattsburgh, NY – Nationally touring comedian Karen Mills will take the stage at the Foundation of CVPH’s annual Girl’s Night Out celebration at 7 pm Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Strand Theater, bringing her signature humor and storytelling style to one of the region’s premier Breast Cancer Awareness Month events.

Mills will serve as the event’s keynote as the originally scheduled speaker, Wendy Hammers recently shared an unforeseen scheduling conflict. “Even comedians have scheduling surprises sometimes,” explained Foundation Events and Special Project Manager Michelle Senecal.

Mills has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, toured with comedian Leanne Morgan, appeared on The Talk and portrays Cindy in season two of Morgan’s Netflix comedy series Leanne. From menopause and aging to life’s unexpected challenges, her smart, relatable observations keep audiences laughing at themselves as they relate to her experiences. Karen offers more than just laughs. A cancer survivor, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013 and chose to face it with the same humor and resilience that define her comedy.  Her TEDx talk, “Cancer Is a Laughing Matter,” highlights how laughter can be a powerful tool in navigating life’s toughest moments. Her story is both hilarious and inspiring.

Held in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the $30 Girls Night Out tickets are still available and can be purchased online at strandcenter.org/theatre-events and at the Strand Welcome Center (located at 23 Brinkerhoff Street, Plattsburgh) during the following hours: Wednesday: 1 to 8 pm, Thursday: 1 to 8 pm, Friday: 1 to 8 pm, Saturday: 10 am to 3 pm - Closed Sunday through Tuesday.

Ticket holders can enjoy 10% off dinner prior to the show at participating local restaurants:

Anthony's Restaurant & Bistro, Applebee's, Arnie's Restaurant, Butcher Block, Latitude 44 Bistro, Lomeli's, Mickey's Restaurant, Ninety-Nine Restaurant, Olive Ridley's, Panera Bread, Texas Roadhouse and Valcour Brewing Co. Reservations may be required at select locations.

The event is generously underwritten by Dannemora Federal Credit Union, Della Auto Group, Mark Schneider, Esq., Northern Insuring Agency and Plattco.

After a 26-year run, the Foundation is sunsetting Girls Night Out but will continue to focus on community health initiatives.  For more information, contact Michelle Senecal at Msenecal@cvph.org or 518-314-3359.
