Elizabethtown, NY – When someone calls 911 during a medical emergency, paramedics are often among the first to arrive. They bring lifesaving care directly to patients and play a vital role in keeping communities healthy and safe.

On Friday, August 7, local golfers will have an opportunity to support the education and training of future paramedics while enjoying a day on the course at the University of Vermont Health Network – Elizabethtown Community Hospital’s annual golf tournament.

The event will be held at Cobble Hill Golf Course. It brings together golfers of all skill levels to support workforce development programs at Elizabethtown Community Hospital, including scholarships for paramedic certification and other efforts that help build the health care workforce.

Since launching in 2018, the hospital's Paramedic Education Program has graduated 100 students. The intensive program combines online learning, classroom instruction, hands-on lab experiences and clinical training to prepare students for entry-level paramedic careers. Many graduates go on to serve communities across the North Country and beyond.

"Workforce development is critical to maintaining access to high-quality health care in our rural communities," Jodi Gibbs, Quality and Community Benefits Coordinator for the hospital, says. "Through support for programs like paramedic education, this tournament helps invest in the people who will provide care for our neighbors, friends and families for years to come."

The tournament features two flights, on-course contests, raffles, prizes and opportunities to connect with fellow community supporters. The afternoon flight is already full, and only a few team spots remain in the morning flight.

Community members can support the event by registering a team, sponsoring the tournament or an on-course contest, or donating items for the silent auction and raffles.

Tournament activities include:

• Chipping Contest
• Silent Raffle
• 50/50 Raffle
• Cooler Raffle
• Mulligans and Skins Game

Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams by gross score, one randomly selected team and winners of closest-to-the-line and closest-to-the-pin competitions for both men and women.

8 am – Morning Flight Start
11 am to 2 pm – Lunch at the Pavilion
11:30 am – Afternoon Flight Registration
12:30 pm – Afternoon Flight Start
5 pm – Awards Ceremony and Raffle Drawings
