Elizabethtown, NY – University of Vermont Health Network – Elizabethtown Community Hospital is pleased to welcome Thomas Dwyer to its Board of Trustees. Dwyer brings decades of leadership experience in international business along with firsthand knowledge of rural health care through his work as an emergency medical technician.

“Tom’s unique background and strong connection to our community make him a valuable addition to the board,” says Steven Cacchio, chair of the hospital’s Board of Trustees. “He understands both the opportunities and the challenges facing rural hospitals, and he brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach that will help guide the hospital forward.”

Dwyer is president and founder of White Horse International, a global business consulting firm, and has held senior leadership roles with several Fortune 100 companies. He also has more than a decade of experience as an EMT, where he has seen the impact of Elizabethtown Community Hospital’s care up close.

“Tom’s perspective is especially meaningful because he has experienced our care from the front lines,” adds Bob Ortmyer, hospital president. “His leadership experience, combined with his commitment to this region, will support our work to provide high-quality, patient-centered care close to home.”

Dwyer, who lives in Willsboro and has deep ties to the North Country, says he is honored to join the board and support a hospital that plays such an important role in the community.

“There’s something special about this place,” Dwyer says. “People choose the hospital because of the care and the personal connection you get from the people who work here. I’ve seen that firsthand, and I’m proud to be part of helping make sure this hospital is here for generations to come.”
