Plattsburgh, NY – Eating well doesn't have to mean spending more time or money in the kitchen. The CVPH Family Medicine Residency’s Cooking with A Doc, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19, will help community members discover practical, affordable ways to prepare healthy meals. The free community event will be held from 5 to 6:30 pm at 159 Margaret St., Suite 101.

A physician from CVPH Family Medicine Residency will demonstrate how to prepare healthy, affordable meals using simple ingredients and easy-to-follow techniques.

Designed to make healthy eating easier, the interactive event features cooking demonstrations, recipe ideas, nutrition education, food samples and practical tips that families can use at home. Participants will learn that preparing nutritious meals does not have to be expensive, complicated or time-consuming.

Additional sessions are planned for Nov. 16 and Dec. 14. All are welcome and no registration is required.

Cooking with A Doc is supported by the Foundation of CVPH.

The CVPH Family Medicine Residency was created in 2013 to help address the primary care provider crisis in rural communities like the North Country and is a collaborative effort between CVPH, the Lerner School of Medicine and University of Vermont Health. The three-year residency includes rotations in emergency medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics, cardiology, surgery, orthopedics, geriatrics and community medicine. Additionally, Residents see their own patients in the CVPH Family Medicine Center at 159 Margaret St. Nearly 60% of all graduates have elected to stay in Northern New York and Vermont to practice medicine.
