Central Vermont Medical Center Welcomes New Board of Trustees Member Tawnya Kristen
Tawnya Kristen, executive director of Green Mountain United Way, brings mission-driven leadership, focus on community partnerships and collaboration
BERLIN, Vt., - Tawnya Kristen, a veteran nonprofit leader with a long history of community involvement and collaboration in Central Vermont, has joined the Board of Trustees at University of Vermont Health – Central Vermont Medical Center.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tawnya Kristen to the CVMC Board,” said Board Chair Erica Hare. “Tawnya brings a deep commitment to community well-being, a highly collaborative leadership style and strong relationships across the region - qualities that will be invaluable as we continue our mission to improve health outcomes throughout Central Vermont. Anyone who has had the opportunity to work with Tawnya knows she brings remarkable passion, energy, and heart to everything she does, and we are delighted to have her join us.”
Kristen, who joined the Board in January, is executive director of Green Mountain United Way, where she leads regional initiatives focused on improving community well-being, strengthening partnerships and expanding Vermonters’ access to essential resources.
“I am truly honored to join the CVMC Board,” said Kristen. “CVMC has long been a trusted presence in our community, and both personally and professionally, I’ve seen the impact this organization has on individuals and families across Central Vermont. To be able to support that work in this new way is incredibly meaningful to me. I’m excited to help advance a mission that aligns so closely with my own commitment to community well-being.”
Kristen’s work has included ongoing partnerships with both CVMC and UVM Health, including the United Way Working Bridges program at CVMC. She also serves as vice chair of the THRIVE Accountable Community for Health – a regional partnership dedicated to improving public health – and as a leadership partner for both Central Vermont Prevention Coalition and other regional community health initiatives.
