Plattsburgh, NY - Life-saving information about responding to medical emergencies is the focus of Staying Alive, a community health fair sponsored by the University of Vermont Health Network – Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH), Sat., June 6 from noon to 3 pm at Champlain Centre.

Because emergencies can happen at anytime, anywhere and to anyone, this free event is aimed at those in the community without a medical background. Local health care professionals will provide hands-on instruction and practical, useful information that can be used by those facing an emergency while waiting for medical help to arrive.

The event will feature displays and exhibits about assisting someone who is choking, having a diabetic emergency, in need of CPR, or having a stroke; use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and administering Narcan. Information about how to stop bleeding in a severely injured person using stop the bleed principles and how to care for yourself in an emergency will also be offered.
