About Our Location
The Addiction Treatment Center (ATC) provides outpatient services to people with substance use disorders (SUDs). If you’re concerned about your relationship with drugs or alcohol, support is available. Whether you're seeking help for yourself or guidance for a loved one, our team can help you take the next step.
We offer:
- Treatment tailored to your needs and goals: Recovery looks different for everyone. Treatment plans are individualized and often focus on the substance or substances causing the greatest concern. We understand that people have busy lives and offer a variety of groups and individual treatment options that fit around work, school and caretaking responsibilities.
- Support for substance use and mental health: Substance use and mental health challenges often affect one another. Our team provides support for both.
- No referral needed: You can contact us directly. We'll listen, discuss options and connect you with the care that's right for you.

Additionally, as a preferred provider of the Vermont Division of Substance Use Programs, we prioritize the care of pregnant individuals and those who use substances intravenously.
Conditions
We provide treatment for all substance use disorders and gambling disorders, including:
- Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD)
- Cannabis Use Disorder
- Hallucinogen Use Disorder
- Inhalant Use Disorder
- Opioid Use Disorder (OUD)
- Sedative, Hypnotic and Anxiolytic Use Disorder Stimulant Use Disorder
- Tobacco Use Disorder
Treatments
We offer the following treatment options at UVM Medical Center's Addiction Treatment Center:
- Intake evaluation with a licensed clinician and recommendations for care
- Onsite physician assessment as indicated
- Individualized treatment planning
- Short-term individual counseling
- Short-term family and couples counseling
- Group counseling, including intensive outpatient programming (IOP)
- Treatment monitoring with random urine drug and alcohol testing
- Continued care planning and care coordination with outside providers
- Assistance with referrals to medically supervised withdrawal and residential services as needed
- Medication treatment for opioid use disorder in our specialty clinic or primary care offices
- Medication treatment for alcohol use disorder
- Short-term medication management for co-occurring mental health conditions

From I-89, take the 14W exit. From Main Street, turn right on South Prospect Street, past the UVM Green. Go approximately two blocks and turn left into University of Vermont Medical Center, 1 South Prospect Street parking lot. Use the main entrance to the building and take the A elevators on your right to the 3rd Floor.
