Dr. Richard Bounds is the interim chair for the department of emergency medicine. He works clinically in our emergency departments at UVM Medical Center, Central Vermont Medical Center, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and Alice Hyde Medical Center and is dedicated to compassionate clinical care and serving patients in their greatest times of need.
Dr. Bounds is a nationally recognized educator who came to Vermont to build the state’s first emergency medicine residency training program. He also helped to build the system-wide department of emergency medicine by recruiting some of the most highly skilled emergency physicians and educators from all over the country. In addition to his educational and departmental leadership roles, Dr. Bounds serves as the inaugural chair of University of Vermont Health Medical Group practice council.
